Massage Therapist

Lisa Handlin is a licensed massage therapist specializing in deep tissue massage. She graduated from the New England Institute of massage in 1986. For the past 28 years, Lisa has worked for many chiropractors over the years. In addition to working at South County Chiropractic, Lisa works at a assisted living facility.

Lisa's specialty is called the Pfrimmer Technique of Deep Muscle Therapy. It is a complete cross tissue/cross fiber massage used to promote healing into the muscles by bringing circulation into blocked or injured areas caused by trauma or stress. When muscles experience trauma or stress they constrict to guard the body. Long after the stress or trauma has passed often the deeper muscle fibers will not release, stretching and exercise is not enough to help those areas. When those areas dry up due to a lack of circulation, calcification occurs, and toxins are trapped within those muscle fibers. Using this very specific cross tissue/cross fiber massage into deeper layers can release those toxins and free up muscle fibers. Having deep muscle massage along with chiropractic care, also helps clients with spinal issues by allowing adjustments longer. This type of massage allows for increased flexibility and strength, as well as decreased pain and inflammation.
